The weather today has been B-E-A-UUUTIFUL. Perfect May Day Weather. And what better way to start off the month than with mouth watering pizza watered down with refreshing Pimms and lemonade?
I was lucky enough to receive press passes to the Bank Holiday Crafty Vintage event, based at Lancaster Castle. The company pride themselves on vintage and retro events, which they run annually throughout the North-West of England with a hefty timetable that you can find on their website.
They really couldn’t of picked a more outstanding backdrop than Lancaster Castle (well I mean apart from the climb up the hill!). The entrance to the event was through the main archway at the front of the castle, with entry costing £2.50 on the door (online early bird tickets were £2.00) – I must also note the staff on the door were extremely helpful and friendly!
My friend and I first decided to explore what was on offer. The event was all-round when it came to offering something for everyone! There were a variety of stalls offering vintage clothing, antiques, accessories, bath bombs, baby clothes and sweets, and in the middle of all this were a variety of hula hoops and vintage toys which younger children were encouraged to use.
There was also an incredible camper-van-style photobooth which was extremely kitsch, full of an assortment of nick-knacks and props!
After looking around, we decided it was time to chill out and listen to some of the live music with a glass of Pimms from Coco Bumper pull. There were some amazing live acts on, including Hannah Rose and Daniella Gallagher. The main area was laid out in a courtyard style, with chairs, tables, picnic benches and deck chairs in the middle, with funky food and drinks stalls surrounding it. At the head of the courtyard was a hugeeee sign displaying the company name, and another retro camper van where the live acts situated themselves.
We finished off our really cute day with a wood-fired pizza which was amazing (Despite the wind blowing charcoal all over me).
